The Warsaw School of Applied Linguistics was founded in 1999 in response to the growing need for educating professionals who would provide foreign language training courses to young people in the international environment, both within the European Union and beyond it. Currently, it is the only private institution of higher education in Masovia offering Bachelor’s and Master’s programs of study in linguistics. It provides thorough theoretical and practical education to those eager to become highly-esteemed translators, foreign language teachers and other specialists in the field of applied linguistics.
Focusing on translation and foreign language teaching, the school has centered its programs of study and academic research around preparing valued employees able to use their knowledge of foreign languages (English, Russian and German) in their professional career. Courses offered at LSW have been designed as to respond to the changing needs of the labor market and the latest research and achievements in applied linguistics.
As LSW constantly expands its international cooperation, its students have a possibility to gain international experience and raise their cross-cultural awareness by spending a semester or two at one of our partner universities.
Our staff consists of ambitious and experienced research-active experts eager to share valuable experience with their students. We also cooperate with the best specialists in the field of linguistics, literature, teaching methodology and translation representing reputable academic institutions both in Poland and abroad.
As regards research excellence, LSW hosts an annual conference – "A Dialogue of Languages and Cultures" – welcoming speeches on a wide range of language-related topics. Furthermore, we issue an annual academic journal "Language and Literary Studies of Warsaw", where papers and reviews written by both experts and outstanding LSW students are published.
